Making a large fashion statement

Big is beautiful in Paris - this size 20 model is wearing a corset, sexy pantyhose with garters, and a sheer black nightgown.

i agree that we chould see largher models on the catwalk but there is a difference between a nice helthy size 12-14 and an obese woman struggerling to actually seperate her thighs. what message do you think this kind of image is sending out. there is no happy medium we get extream fat or thin.

I very much agree with Liz’s comment. This image is putting out the wrong message. During 2007’s fashion week the hype was all about getting the anorexic models off the runway, for what? This? I’m sorry…she looks like a Krispy Kreme calendar girl promoting obesity. I don’t even notice the lingerie. Gee, has the industry ever thought about putting healthy weight girls on the runway? I give this model a thumbs down (and a donut for a consolation prize just for having the nerve to flaunt the fat) They think this shows confidence and esteem? WRONG…this is pure audacity. See what you started Tyra Banks?! Shame on you! Being overweight is NOT glamorous, it IS UNHEALTHY AND UNATTRACTIVE and has no place in the high fashion industry! I think Jean Paul Gaultier is the one responsible for putting this girl on the runway. If I am correct, then I give him the “Crisco Award” for doing such a great job of promoting ‘Fat in the Can”. “Down with FATshion, we want FAshion”!

I agree with Cindy, i dont even notice the lingerie, i notice the celulite being “big” is unhealthy and OBVIOUSLY not attractive, im 7 months pregnant and i weigh 160 even before the baby i couldnt get into modeling, maybe i should gain a good 200 lbs and maybe they’ll embarrass me and put me in lingerie and fork lift me to a runway

How friggin nasty is that? Who would want to buy lingerie after seeing her? I sure wouldn’t! I’m a model and if I ever saw that a designer was gonna put that on the same catwalk as me, I wouldn’t walk down the runway. That’s a disgrace. Everyone says models are anorexic, but I know first hand that not all of them are. And for all you fat bimbo’s out there saying ” YAY! GO FAT GIRL! ” go on a D-I-E-T. You are gross. There is nothing pretty about obeseity!

Dear “A”, Would you please leave another comment describing just what you had to go through to become a model to begin with? Let’s hear from the REAL high fashion models, the TRUE proffessionals that have to sweat in the gym and watch what they eat to sell the clothes and products! You know, the models whose clothes we can actually see because they aren’t trapped in the fat, lost in the rolls, or crinkled in the wrinkles!

personally ok it was th wrong advertisement to a certain extent i mean how many larger woman have you seen motivated to actually think they should go out and have a good time and be confidant to be their selfs it might actually motivate them to lose weight
cause the fact is most people larger than normal stay in their house depressed cause they dont think they can stand the looking at but maybe this will actually show them that beauty is only skin deep they will start coming out their shell models are a bad influence i think
i think obesity is caused by most of them because some girls cant get as thin as them they get depressed because they are a healty 10 - 14 but they dont see that as being healty they see themselves as fat and stay in their house and become larger the need normal models
models cause anorexia and obesity due to their stupid size i love fashion but as they say fashion can be a killer

Look y’all, there is something wrong with being obese. It’s not healthy, and that’s been proven. However…I do believe that they should send more models down the runway who aren’t size 0 or 2 or 4 or even 8..they should start sending more size 14 and 20 and 24 models down to show that it’s okay to have some self confidence. I agree with gavin. Fashion can be a killer because 99 % of the models who participate in it are anorexic!! It’s ridiculous!! It’s okay to be normal and have some meet on your bones.
