Bubbles essentials for summer

Related entries in Accessories, Lingerie, Shapewear

Summer time clothes are much more revealing, and every gal could use a little help looking her best. Here are some summer essentials from Bubbles Bodywear

With small tank tops, the last thing you want to see is a bra strap. Really. Raceback tank tops like this one are a staple in my wardrobe. Must have about 15 of them. But there is nothing more unattractive than seeing the bra strap cut right down the shoulder. Plus, it makes for a horrid tan line. So, I use the Bubbles Strapper Bra Adjuster to turn my favorite bra into a convertible bra - because I’ve yet to find a convertible bra as comfortable as my regular one!

Next problem. Skirts. Too hot for pantyhose to keep yourself looking lean and mean. In come the Bubbles Butt Booster Bands - it’s like a legwarmer-style contraption you put on each thigh. The top is a band, the bottom more like pantyhose. You position it under the toosh for a little oomph in the rear.

Last issue - panty lines. If you hate g-strings like I do, you can opt for the Garment Guard for the final seamless touch:

Of course, as soon as Christmas is just around the corner, all the sales turn to Valentine’s. And in the lingerie world, that means big business. One of my favorite retailers, Figleaves, has some great lingerie ideas for Feb 14th. Like this Flirtation frill bra from SpoyIt:

Agent Provocateur Knickers Forever

Agent Provocateur launches a new e-zine called Knickers Forever.

Yes, that’s Kate Moss on the cover there ;)

Here is their blurb:

"Subscribe FREE to receive our monthly online magazine ‘Knickers Forever’.

Be the first to share our latest news, sensational offers, exclusive pictures, titillating promotions and our much talked about online diary ‘inside my knicker drawer’."

While I was there, I had a little roam around the site and found these gems:

The first is called "Love", a classic French lace piece. And then there is the more daring "Marylin" - perhaps too daring for me! Silk, cupless bra and tassles! Yowee!

Bouncing breast simulator

Related entries in Bras & Push-Up Bras, Lingerie, Lingerie Stores

Sports bras. Ah, could totally make me go bonkers. I have absolutely never found one that worked for me. Oh well.

Anyway, an UK sports bra company called Shock Absorber has come up with a bouncing breast simulator. Yep, you get to watch boobies jiggle. hehe.

Plug in a cup-size and a level of activity, and it produces a 3D animation of breasts of that size bouncing free, bouncing in a regular bra, and hardly moving at all in one of their sports-bras. Extra geeky bonus points for including a 3D wireframe view, so you can see the pure physics of the jiggle.

Babydoll with Faux Pearl Strap and Thong

Related entries in Babydolls, Bridal wear, Lingerie, Lingerie Stores

Wohoo, I have some new lingerie. The kind folks at Yandy Lingerie offered to have me review a product and I picked out the Babydoll with Faux Pearl Strap and Thong.

I figured that since I’m getting married in 30 days I should go for something in their bridal lingerie. I chose this babydoll because it was oh so cute.

Well, I was quite pleased when it arrived. The picture really didn’t do it justice!

First, it came way faster than I expected! Second, it’s of a good quality - the material feels nice and it is built without flaws. It’s hard to see the pearls on the straps but they are really nice. They add this extra glamour to the outfit. I’m particularly fond of the babydoll because it has a built in underwire system, which is great for that extra oomph, you know?

I think the outfit is very sexy - and so does my fiance - it flows so nicely! I am not the biggest fan of thongs, but I will admit that the outfit looks great with the thong.

Thanks Yandy!

Oh, and keep your eyes on the blog, we’re going to have a great contest soon to give away free lingerie!!

Venetia corset

Related entries in Bridal wear, Corsets & Bustiers, Lingerie

The Venetia corset is a vision in white. And it is the most popular corset, by far. I can totally see why too! Makes me want to change my mind on my own bridal corset!!

The Venetia corset is made of thick, jacquard tapestry satin. This strapless model features a gorgeous Venice Trim along the bustline and hip line. The front features hook and eyelet closure. Boning throughout this item gives a beautfiiul silohouette of your feminine form. The design of this corset has a natural push-up of the bust, creating a devastingly sexy look. The back closure is a ribboned cross lace-up, allowing you to cinche up the waist line. This is a classic corset. Remember, when putting on the corset, lay the corset flat, giving the back lace-up about 3 inches apart. Hook up the front from top to bottom and then continue to tighten the back one cross at a time. This outfit comes with matching thong panties and adjustable/detatchable garters.

Available at angelbodywear at a sale price of $59.

Victoria’s Secret is one of my favorite places to visit when in the US. So annoying that they don’t have a store in Canada. Anyway, this is the slip I bought my last time over. It’s lace trimmed and satin, so it feels great. The slit and the ribbon bows are just a nice little topper.

If you are looking for a bra that is something other than a B or C cup, you could be searching extra hard now.

Victoria’s Secret has stopped carrying DDs, and they’re not the only ones. Retailers other than department stores are carrying less of the ‘extreme’ sizes - 32A and below or DD and above. These spectrum end sizes don’t sell in the same volumes, and take up shelf space that is now at a premium.

If shelf space is being freed up by removing these sizes, what is going there? Well, there is a new trend toward half sizes in the mid-range breast sizes.

This same trend is happening in all clothing areas, but it is particularly extreme and noticeable in lingerie.

“There are not enough choices for women in the extreme end,” Targosz says. “Sometimes companies get to the point where they worry about the one size fits all cookie-cutter shape rather than the whole market. If a company becomes too focused on that they will eliminate concern for the others.”

Lingerie chain Victoria’s Secret last spring cleared its stores of all but a few styles in DD cups before customer gripes lead it to reverse the move, several sales associates say. (A corporate spokeswoman denies the chain made such a move.) The bigger cup sizes that do trickle in are snatched up by customers, these salespeople said. Meanwhile, women searching for 32As and smaller sizes, such as AAs, also have reason to complain. They find the retailer no longer offers AAs — and offer only a couple of styles in the 32As from which to choose.

Companies are producing every size, but stores just aren’t ordering them, says Norah Alberto, senior style director of Maidenform, which earlier this year axed the 32C from all but a few styles. The company also offers only a couple 32As. Limited floor space forces retailers to drop some sizes…

If you have difficulty finding your size, here are some tips:

- choose a style and order your size online or from catalogues

- choose stores that have size exchange policies

- go direct to the brand website

- get alterations

- go to specialty stores

When it comes to just finding a bra, you aren’t left with many choices in styles. As the average breast size starts seeing more and more selection in styles and materials, we’ll see less of it in the extreme size ranges.

“You can’t find something that’s fashionable or sexy,” she says. “They want to put them away somewhere and don’t care about what the package looks like. It’s like five straps and a brace.”…

How much would you pay for Charlize Theron’s Corset?

Related entries in Corsets & Bustiers, Lingerie

That’s the question that has just been answered. Charlize Theron’s Corset Creation has been sold for a record high amount at Frederick’s of Hollywood’s Lingerie Art Auction. The satin and beaded corset sold for $18,000.

More than 100 celebrities helped raise funds at the auction, which benefited the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance. Other corsets were designed by Nicole Kidman, Jessica Alba, Tea Leoni, Sandra Bernhard and Julianne Moore.

“It is thrilling for Frederick’s to be part of such a creative and worthwhile event,” said Linda LoRe, president and CEO, Frederick’s of Hollywood. Each year, we look forward to collaborating with Hollywood’s biggest names to create pieces of wearable art for a great cause.”

Additionally, eight corsets were sold via a silent auction during the course of the event. Celebrities such as Kiera Knightley, Susan Sarandon, Reese Witherspoon and Sela Ward lent their designs to the cause. Ms. Ward’s handmade corset brought approximately $2,000.

Some of the corset hightlights include:

* Tea Leoni’s design includes a detailed 3-page sketch, outlining the precise details for development.

* Tori Amos’ “Midsummer’s Night Dream” corset was personally crafted by the singer. Her corset is accompanied by a story she wrote that explains each element of her design.

* Racing enthusiast Patrick Dempsey decorated his corset with patches and checkered-flag ribbon.
