Arieanna has handed the over reins for The Lingerie Gals to me, and I have to say, I’m very excited!
I have a love of fine lingerie products, neat gadgets that slim, shape, and make us look amazing, as well as the ones that make a girl feel oh so sexy that you simply can’t wait to get home and show off your newest … look.
I like the idea that a new look, be it a corset, a costume or a pair of thigh highs can take a woman from a shy girl at work to an animal in the bedroom. I like the feeling that a girl can get from just knowing that she’s got on a beautiful matching bra and panties set.
I plan to give the site some gas, and well, set the sucker on fire. I’ve started to suss out some fun stuff to write about here, and I can’t wait to start telling you all about it!
Let me know if there’s anything that you guys are interested in seeing, and if there’s PR people who rep lingerie, swim wear, any neat gadgets, hosiery, undergarments… all that kinda stuff, please let me know! Pitch me, please.
I hope you’ll enjoy me here… I’ll certainly do my best to please.
A tradition for us is to provide resources for the music behind the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. We shall continue that with the wonderful soundtrack behind the 2007 show. Here are those songs, in order of appearance during the show:

Summer time clothes are much more revealing, and every gal could use a little help looking her best. Here are some summer essentials from Bubbles Bodywear
With small tank tops, the last thing you want to see is a bra strap. Really. Raceback tank tops like this one are a staple in my wardrobe. Must have about 15 of them. But there is nothing more unattractive than seeing the bra strap cut right down the shoulder. Plus, it makes for a horrid tan line. So, I use the Bubbles Strapper Bra Adjuster to turn my favorite bra into a convertible bra - because I’ve yet to find a convertible bra as comfortable as my regular one!

Next problem. Skirts. Too hot for pantyhose to keep yourself looking lean and mean. In come the Bubbles Butt Booster Bands - it’s like a legwarmer-style contraption you put on each thigh. The top is a band, the bottom more like pantyhose. You position it under the toosh for a little oomph in the rear.

Last issue - panty lines. If you hate g-strings like I do, you can opt for the Garment Guard for the final seamless touch:

Canada.com has a great segment for ‘undressing’ panties - i.e. understanding them. All the myriads of styles:
Full Briefs
Okay, let’s get the least sexy out of the way. Full briefs are those ugly knickers that are cut low on the leg and high on the waist. They’re the knicker equivalent of Mom-jeans and if you own a pair, you shouldn’t.Midis / Hipsters
Much more acceptable everyday wear are midis, which are cut lower on the waist and a little higher on the leg. They give good coverage of the bum and are therefore great and comfortable for day-in, day-out wear.
Brazilians
Brazilians are midis that don’t cover the full buttock but instead cut somewhere across the middle of the bum. This can result in some sexy bum cleavage, but, on the downside, can also give you the permanent sensation that your knickers are riding up your arse.Bikinis
Bikinis are midis, but smaller. These are even lower on the waist and are best avoided by those of us with extra curvaceous figures, since there’ll be unsightly spillage over the waistband. Bikinis look best on the skinny sisterhood.
Tanga Brief
Tanga briefs are like bikinis, but instead of a full seam on the sides, there’s a string holding the front and back together. This is über-unflattering on all but the most boyish of figures as the string will saw into your sides and create great unsightly bulging.Thongs / G-Strings
The itsy-bitsy underwear is loved for its VPL (visible panty line) eliminating quality, but scorned for its questionable comfort levels and especially for visibility when sitting down in low-rise pants. Every girl needs one thong in her arsenal for those outfits that demand nothing less than a seam-free derriere.Boyshorts
If you’re a girl who likes coverage but rightly hates the full brief, try a little boyshort. Cute, flirty, sexy and comfortable, boyshorts are also arguably as good at avoiding VPLs as thongs. Plus, in my meager experience, men love them, women love them AND they’re comfortable. These things rarely coincide, so take advantage when they do!Shapewear
In all shapes and sizes, shapewear is designed with one thing in mind: Firming up those flabby bits and giving you a smooth silhouette. However, they’re far from sexy. It’s that classic Bridget Jones catch-22 of whether to wear the big knickers that will make you look better in the dress, or the hot ones that will be sexier if you end up in flagrante. Oprah claims only to ever wear Spanx, the shapewear du jour. In a perfect world, none of us would ever need a helping hand, but in reality we do and thankfully there are lots of options out there.
I’m a boyshorts kinda gal :)
Wacoal (site in Japanese) produces a series of hip and tummy tucking shapewear items that not only "tuck" in your unwanted areas, but help you slim them down.
Created with panels of resin, the tension created during walking is supposed to help tighten and tone your body.

For those of us gals who can pull of being both geek and chic, the username & password panties from J!NX, in the most comfy boyshort style. I’d prefer minus the giant waist band - something never attractive on a woman - but I’d love these babies. If you are a flirt, you could even hand out your password instead of your number at a bar ;)

It’s the most expensive bra I’ve ever heard of and I haven’t a clue where I’d wear it, but this 6.5 million dollar, 800 carat diamond studded lovely is something I sure wouldn’t mind owning. It was created by Hearts on Fire exclusively for Victoria’s Secret and contains more than 2000 diamonds.

Can I just say "Wow!"
Available though Victoria’s Secret

Of course, as soon as Christmas is just around the corner, all the sales turn to Valentine’s. And in the lingerie world, that means big business. One of my favorite retailers, Figleaves, has some great lingerie ideas for Feb 14th. Like this Flirtation frill bra from SpoyIt:
Padded balcony cup, underwire, stretch silk chiffon and a central bow and ruffled detail.

To create your perfect set with the previously mentioned La Senza ITEC Bra, La Senza also has an ITEC underwear line. This underwear is also seam-free, invisible and extremely comfortable. Almost like wearing none at all. I love it! I haven’t been able to find a picture, but it also comes in 2 sexy lacy styles: a thong and a low rise bikini brief. Again though it isn’t available on the Canadian La Senza site, so you’ll have to go in store to find it in Canada, but it is available on the La Senza UK site.

Now normally I am not taken in by advertising hype and just to be contrary I make a point of not buying things that are advertised heavily. But sometimes it just sounds too good to be true and I’ve got to check it out. That’s what the ITEC Bra sounded like to me. So I went in to La Senza and tried it on. I wasn’t meaning to purchase anything, I was just trying it on so I could give an opinion. But the ITEC bra has to be one of the most comfortable bra’s I have ever purchased. It’s advertised as the no seam, no stretch invisible bra. Mostly I agree but I do have a minor 2 disputes with those claims:
1)Â No Seam:Â yes the bra has no seams, but ring where the the straps in the front connect to the bra are slightly noticeable under some shirts
2)Â No Stretch:Â I have experienced a minor about of stretching. I used to clip the back in the middle, now I clip it using the smallest option. But I have never known a material that doesn’t have some sort of give to it.
Like I said minor disputes and the bra is so comfortable that nothing that makes me regret buying an ITEC bra. It is the most comfortable bra in my drawer. Although I do have to caution anyone who is larger than a C cup. The straps are super skinny, which makes them easy to hide, but they might cut into your shoulders.
My final opinion: An awesome bra, extremely comfortable. I recommend it. Oddly enough it cannot be found on the Canadian La Senza site, so you’ll have to go in store to buy it. In store they have a few variations of the bra pictured. More colors and a lacey overlay. It can be found on the La Senza UK Site though.
Pantyhose sales are down… people just don’t want to wear them anymore.
Sure, their sheer allure enhances the legs. But they’re tight, uncomfortable and one little rip can make them run — and ruin an entire outfit. And while they once were a staple in a career woman’s wardrobe, sheer hosiery today faces an even a bigger snag that can’t be fixed with clear nail polish or a Band-Aid — more than a decade of declining sales….
"The casualization of the workplace, it is not as strict as before," said Romaine Sargent, vice president and general manager of marketing for hosiery at Hanesbrands. "Women have more options and some are choosing to wear sheer hosiery less."
According to the company, women ages 25 to 54 wear pantyhose an average of 1.8 times a week, down from 3.5 times a week a decade ago. Hosiery sales at Hanesbrands, which includes sheer hosiery (pantyhose, knee-high and thigh high), leggings, tights and trouser socks, totaled $290 million in fiscal 2006 — a nearly 68 percent drop from the $895 million in sales the company did in fiscal 1995…
Nowadays, the trendsetters in many offices wear Capri-style pants, dress shorts, open toe sandals or even flip-flops.
My thoughts: there are too many bad pantyhose out there that rip and tear like crazy, and too many options. People just don’t know what to get - so many brands with so many different names for the same thing, and yet you can never find the shade or size you want. It’s a product demand thing. If pantyhose were chic and attractive, we’d wear them more. I love to wear them, personally. They make me feel great, and I love that little boost they give me.
Oh yeah, and cut cost. It’s a supply and demand thing. Demand gone down? So should price. If you want to attract new customers with funky new products, don’t price those products as the most pricey.
